In the breathtaking dance performance Solo One, I brought life to Oscar Ramos' inspiring story through a combination of scenography, cinematography, and light-design.
The scenography featured a monumental 12-meter-wide custom-made projection screen, serving as a captivating backdrop. This colossal canvas allowed me to immerse the audience in a world of cinematic imagery that oscillated between the mesmerising landscapes of Kalmthoutse Heide and the evocative studio recordings. The fusion of nature's beauty and the raw intensity of the studio visuals laid the foundation for Oscar's compelling narrative. To breathe vitality into the performance, I added playful animated graphics. These vibrant and colourful elements accentuated the ups and downs
of Oscar's hard-knock life.
As a multi-media artist, I not only directed and crafted the cinematic videos but also choreographed the lights to complement Oscar's dance moves in perfect harmony with Adam V. Clarke's stirring music. The interplay of light and shadow highlighted the dynamic shifts in Oscar's performance, further elevating the impact of his story.
The culmination of our efforts was a premiere in Antwerpen. The performance received resounding applause. Soon after its successful debut, the Centro de Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico embraced Solo One, offering audiences on another continent the opportunity to experience the moving and poignant journey of Oscar Ramos.
